The New Design

Well, it was about time for a site redesign of my personal blog about all things Celtic and more. Hope you like the big Castle photograph which we use on our facebook page. Thought that would add a nice effect and welcome to the page.

I also thought a change in name from “The Web Celt” to “The Celtic Highlander” would add another element of interest to this blog. Many, many years ago I use to run a website called “The Scottish Highlander” which a few people may remember as the predecessor to the Celtic Radio website. I chose “Celtic Highlander” to represent more of a Global representation. After all, it is much more fun to bring all of the other Celtic heritages and history then to stick to one ethnic group.

Thats the update. Now here is a great video featuring the beautiful Jenny O’Connor – aka – the hot violinist. The Gael always strikes me with its stoic and melancholia melody. Enjoy!

About The Celtic Highlander

So, you might be wondering now how did Celtic Radio come to be? What is our inspiration? Celtic Radio was created to bring together a community of listeners, performers and musicians to share and converse in Celtic culture. Our inspiration for this endeavour is the music, but let’s face it, the radio waves and TV are ruled by an endless barrage of top 40 musicians and performers. Listen to your local AM or FM band and chances are you will not find many Celtic music stations, if you find any at all! How then can the devoted musicians that play at the Irish Festivals and Highland Games ever get heard beyond that venue? How can people discover Celtic music if there is no place to listen? Hence was born the idea of a free 24 hour Celtic Radio station available on the World Wide Web for all to enjoy.
